As the Branch Manager of our Dahlsens Mitre 10 Myrtleford retail store, you will lead and manage a team of around 20 experienced team members who are all passionate about providing great service to our local builders, tradies, and DIY customers. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coaching of staff, recruitment when required, leading visual merchandising standards, inventory management, and delivering the financial outcomes of the store across 7-day trading.
You will need strong business acumen, be familiar with a profit and loss statement, and understand the key levers to impact financial results. Most importantly you will bring a high EQ - to understand the team, balance the need to be consultative, and performance-develop or manage to achieve business goals and objectives.
This is a hands-on role for someone who leads from the front, gets stuck in with the team on the shop floor, and takes real pride in running a great store every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Leading, coaching and developing a high performing team of approx. 20 team members, and 7-day trading
- Creating and implementing processes and strategies to improve the overall customer experience
- Managing rostering across the retail centre to ensure adequate coverage and 7-day trading standards
- Delivering financial outcomes, input to the budgeting process, and driving sales, profit, and expense targets
- Overseeing store ranging, visual merchandising, promotions, and stock availability so the store presents at its best every day
- Managing branch operations, administration, and reporting requirements
- Recruiting, onboarding, and developing new team members when required
- Collaborating with Category Managers to ensure the right product mix and quantities meet local customer demand
- Holding regular branch meetings to share updates and address concerns collectively
- Providing personalised coaching and development plans for direct reports
- Safeguarding company assets and upholding compliance with all policies and procedures
- Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents promptly via Donesafe
- Living the 'Our Circle of Care' principles – See, Say, Listen, Stop – and looking out for the safety of yourself, your team, our customers and the community
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 5+ years' industry experience managing a retail business of similar scale (preferred)
- Experience in DIY, hardware, retail or supermarket merchandise segments (preferred)
- Strong visual merchandising skills (preferred)
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn point-of-sale systems (preferred)
- Excellent negotiation, influencing and commercially astute decision making
- Strong, positive relationship building abilities with internal and external customers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues in a positive manner through negotiation and consultation
- A true team leader who can build culture, structure, motivate and influence
- High awareness of site safety and duty of care for your team, customers, and site visitors
- A hands-on leader with a can-do attitude who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment
