ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Leading Hand Truss Production, you will play a key role in supervising daily production activities and supporting the efficient manufacture of quality trusses and frames. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will lead and motivate a team, ensure production targets are met, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

This hands-on leadership position requires experience in timber manufacturing or a related building products environment, along with a strong understanding of truss and frame manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for coordinating workflow, interpreting production plans and technical drawings, troubleshooting issues on the floor, and ensuring quality outcomes for customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the production team during daily operations.
  • Work with Production Scheduler to meet targets and delivery deadlines.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support for new and existing staff.
  • Monitor quality control processes and conduct regular inspections of finished products.
  • Assist with troubleshooting machinery, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate records related to production output, staff attendance, and materials usage.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership team.
  • Ensure manufacturing timelines are met to customer requirements and negotiate outcomes.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
  • Promote Our Circle of Care and operate within our company values.
  • Ensure team member competencies are up to date and recorded at all times.
  • Strong collaboration with the site HSR to guarantee safe operations, with all team members going home safe and well each day.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Previous experience in timber manufacturing or related building products industry.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of truss and frame manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret production plans and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality assurance.
  • Forklift licence and/or relevant machinery tickets.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
