As a Production Scheduler at our Wagga Wagga Truss & Frame manufacturing plant, you will play an integral role in our truss and frame operations. Your primary focus will be the accurate data entry of new orders and ensuring they flow through the confirmation and manufacturing process in consultation with the Branch Manager and Production Manager.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will work very closely with the Production Manager in reviewing production capabilities and ensuring scheduling projections of orders are aligned to those capacities. You will also be a key point of contact for our trade customers – taking phone calls, responding to emails, and managing invoicing and purchase order administration to keep our plant running smoothly.
This is a fast-paced, detail-focused role for someone with strong organisational skills, a proactive can-do attitude, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities across scheduling, stock and customer service every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Ensuring production schedules are up to date and revisions are carried out accordingly
- Scheduling the production of jobs and overseeing the running of the production line
- Ensuring adequate supplies (nails, plates, braces, steel, glass, fittings etc.) are available so production is not compromised
- Scheduling deliveries to meet customer expectations and the production timetable
- Managing customer calls and emails, providing timely, accurate updates on orders and delivery timing
- Processing invoicing, receipting and purchase orders accurately and on time
- Optimising utilisation of trucks and drivers while meeting customer delivery expectations
- Liaising with the Branch Manager on staffing to meet the production timetable and delivery requirements
- Liaising with Detailers to ensure work is ready for production and schedules run uninterrupted
- Communicating timber supply levels to the appropriate people to protect the supply chain
- Developing new procedures and processes to improve output, scheduling and manufacturing turnaround
- Providing daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports as required
- Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents promptly via Donesafe
- Living the 'Our Circle of Care' principles – See, Say, Listen, Stop – and looking out for the safety of yourself, your team, our customers and the community
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 3+ years' proven experience in a scheduling or logistics role or similar (preferred)
- Experience in the manufacturing or building supplies industry (preferred)
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction and Building (preferred)
- Great customer service skills, including strong phone manner and professional email etiquette
- Strong organisational and scheduling skills, with the ability to multi coordinate across teams
- Attention to detail is paramount in this role
- Excellent computer skills and confidence with data entry, invoicing and purchase order systems
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Product experience with timber and building materials (preferred)
- A team player who is energetic, self-driven, uses initiative to solve problems and takes ownership every day
