As a Production Team Member at our Ballarat Truss & Frame manufacturing plant, you will be responsible for cutting and assembling frames and trusses, playing a crucial role in the production of prefabricated wall frames and roof trusses for some of Australia's best home builders. Your ability to use a range of hand and power tools will be essential, working with detailed manufacturing drawings to produce accurate, quality product every shift.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be part of a tight-knit production team where safety is non-negotiable and quality is just as important as quantity. You will safely operate and maintain plant equipment, manage manual handling tasks throughout the day, and contribute to a clean, hazard-free working environment.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing role that suits someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong safety mindset, and a proactive, can-do attitude every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Cutting and assembling wall frames and roof trusses with precision and accuracy
- Working from detailed manufacturing drawings to produce prefabricated frames and trusses
- Safely operating and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools and plant equipment
- Maintaining a high level of attention to detail to ensure every product meets Dahlsens' quality standards
- Manual handling of timber, plasterboard and other building materials (lifting up to 25kg, occasionally up to 40kg in a dual lift)
- Accurately reading and using a tape measure throughout the shift
- Keeping the manufacturing plant clean, tidy and compliant with hygiene and WHS standards
- Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents promptly via Donesafe
- Living the 'Our Circle of Care' principles – See, Say, Listen, Stop – and looking out for the safety of yourself, your team, our customers and the community
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Previous experience in frame and truss assembly or a similar manufacturing role (preferred)
- Experience in the timber and building industry (preferred)
- Current Forklift Licence (LF) (preferred)
- Proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work from detailed manufacturing drawings and procedural documentation
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to also work with limited supervision
- Demonstrated awareness and adherence to site safety protocols
- Physically capable of bending, lifting, balancing, kneeling, crouching and carrying – including lifting up to 25kg (and up to 40kg in a dual lift) throughout the day
- A reliable team player who is energetic, honest, takes initiative and brings a hands-on, can-do attitude every day
