As a Yard Person at Dahlsens, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our yard running smoothly and our customers happy. From unloading and organising timber to assembling and loading customer orders, you’ll be involved in every step of the process to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency. You’ll operate forklifts, maintain a clean and hazard-free yard, and occasionally hit the road to deliver orders, extending our commitment to great service beyond the gate. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a team environment where a proactive, “can-do” attitude makes all the difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

• Safely and efficiently unload timber and materials from trucks, demonstrating care and precision.
• Assemble and prepare customer orders accurately and on time, ready for deliverLoad orders to optimise space and weight distribution for safe transport.
• Operate forklifts confidently and in line with all safety protocols.
• Maintain an organised, clean, and hazard-free yard, ensuring materials are stored logically.
• Handle and move stock efficiently, using the right tools and equipment to minimise manual effort.
• Support general yard and administration tasks, including paperwork and compliance checks.
• Demonstrate a hands-on, can-do attitude, assisting wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Forklift Licence (mandatory).
• Construction Induction White Card (preferred).
• Drivers Licence (preferred).
• Agree to a Driver History Check being conducted as part of pre-employment or ongoing compliance requirements.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or storage yard, equipping you with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills relevant to the position.
• Knowledge or experience working with timber products will be highly advantageous, enabling you to better understand customer needs and provide tailored assistance.
